14 days safari including: 5/6 days cycling, 4 days Game viewing, 3 days Walks/ cultural exchanges and drives outside the national parks. I T I N E R A R Y - Day 1 Arrival into Kilimanjaro airport met and transferred to Maji Moto camp. - Day 2 Morning orientation, set the bikes up and an easy cycle into the nearby village to check out the locals! As well as getting used to the bikes and a bit of Africa. Return to Maji Moto camp for the night. - Day 3 Morning transfer to the start of your ‘bush cycle’. 4/5 hours cycling with plenty of time to rest and enjoy the country side. You will be cycling in an area populated by the Maasai people and have the chance for many natural encounters with them. Bush camp set up for the night. Noondoto Village - Day 4 A full days cycling ahead of you as you traverse through the Rift valley heading for the western wall of the rift. Excellent views of the Rift wall and possible Plains animal encounters. On a clear day Oldonyo Lengai will be clearly seen in the distance. Overnight in Engaruka village camp site. - Day 5 After your morning breakfast you jump in the car and transferred to Ngorongoro Crater. The afternoon will see you descend into the crater on a game drive. Return to the camp site for overnight. - Day 6 A morning start sees you descending onto the Serengeti plains. Awesome views as you see the world open before you into the ‘endless plains’ of the Serengeti. An afternoon game drive is enjoyed before returning to the campsite for the night. - Day 7 Today you drive up to the north of the Serengeti to Kliens Gate, an over view of the size of the park with plenty of animals to enjoy on the way. Set up the camp for the night. - Day 8 A full days game drive as you explore the northen area of the Serengeti park. Return to the camp for overnight. - Day 9 After a short drive to the park gates you are back on the bikes. A great days cycling is ahead as you follow a dirt road toward the town of Loloiondo. Animals can be seen on route and once more natural encounters are enjoyed with the local Maasai people. Overnight in a village campsite. - Day 10 After breakfast you head of for probably the best days cycling as you pedal your way down to Lake Natron. There are some spectacular views and easy down hill cycling to navigate through. Lake Natron is the hottest place you will have been to. You stay in a local campsite. - Day 11 A day to enjoy Lake Natron, the soda lake and the flamingos, you have some free time to hang out at the camp or visit the local village. Optional Lengai climb Return to camp overnight. - Day 12 If you have chosen to climb Lengai the previous night then you return from the climb mid day and rest in the fresh water streams. An afternoon/evening walk up to the local waterfalls will do the legs no end of good. Return to camp for the evening. - Day 13 A days drive back to Arusha. This is a very scenic drive and will take you through a couple of Maasai villages where there will have the options of exploring. There is also the chance to do more cycling this day, if your legs are still strong. Accommodation at a bed & breakfast lodge in Arusha town. - Day 14 Your flight leaves in the evening so you have time for a relaxing day in and around Arusha or just chill out at the lodge getting all your last minute shopping together. Transfer back to the airport. * Maji Moto camp is a village campsite which we make our own, putting up a comfortable tented camp. It is situated 20minutes drive from Kilimanjaro airport under huge fig trees which have grown up around a natural fresh water spring. Swimming is allowed and the location is close to local villages and is handy for afternoon walks/ cycles. A wonderful view of Kilimanjaro is had most morning and evenings. (weather permitting!) Bush Camps are exactly as you would expect! The tents are set up close to a local village or where ever the cycling has us finish that day. Village campsites are sites designated by the local village and may have water and long drop toilets available. National Park campsites have water and toilets and are usually quite busy. On all our trips we carry a shower tent & toilet tent. You sleep on mattresses placed on camp beds. Lighting is by Kerosene lamps and sleeping bags can be provided. Included: Bike hire & equipment, Cycling guide, Cook & helper, All Park fees, Camping fees, Meals, transfers and government tax. Vehicle & driver guide.
