I T I N E R A R Y

Day 1:
Arrive Addis Ababa at Bole International Airport and meet with us for transfer to 3*hotel

Day 2:
After breakfast drive to Debre Markos through the crop growing farmland. En route, after 100 kms drive, visit the 13th century monastery of Debre Libanos and the 17th century Portuguese Bridge. Further down, you will enjoy the gorgeous Blue Nile Gorge. This route is a recommended birding site. Overnight basic hotel

Day 3:
Drive about 250 kms to Bahir Dar through the beautiful scenery and visiting the Amhara people & their villages. Have lunch at Bahir Dar, the capital of the Amhara National Regional State. Afternoon, city tour and birding along the shore of the Lake. Overnight 3*hotel

Day 4:
After an early breakfast drive to the spectacular water falls called Blue Nile Falls (30kms from Bahir Dar) where is also possible for birding NB. the visit to the fall is optional as the water is diverted for the source of hydroelectric power. It is only recommended during the rainy season. Afternoon, boat trip on Ethiopia's largest Lake called Tana for its middle age island monasteries. Overnight hotel

Day 5:

After breakfast drive 180 kms to Gondar, the 17th century capital of Ethiopia. King Fasiledous who still has a magnificent castle established in Gondar in 1636. Afternoon, visit the castle compound and the church of Debre Berhan Selassie for its awe-inspiring painting and, lastly, the Bath of king Fasiledous and the Felasha (Black Jewish) village. Overnight 3*hotel

Day 6:
On this day, you drive long (360kms) but enjoying very beautiful and spectacular landscape along the Semien Mountains and Tekeze Gorge where you can see lots of birding species. Overnight 3*Hotel

Day 7:
Full day city tour of Axum for its historical and spiritual attractions; museum, St. Mary of Zion (place of the Arc of the Covenant), Stele Park, tombs, ruin palace of Queen Sheba, and Izana's Inscription. Overnight same hotel

Day 8:
After early breakfast drive to Adigrat through the Adwa Mountains and a short visit of Yeha for its over 2500 years old of Temple of the Moon and the church of Aba Aftse. After 90 kms further drive, you will visit the Debre Damo monastery to which the only access is rope pulley for both ascending and descending. Unfortunately, women are not allowed to climb to this monastery but they can stay at the footstep of the mountain (gate). Then continue driving to Adigrat for overnight stop. Overnight basic hotel

Day 9:
Drive to Mekele via Hawzen to visit some of the rock-hewn churches of Tigray mainly Digum Selassie, Abreha Atsebeha and Wukro Churkos. Overnight 3*hotel

Day 10:
On this day, you will have the longest driving day (460 kms) via Lake Ashenge. The road is very twisted and nice to experience with its magnificent scenery (gigantic, ups and downs landscape). Overnight 3*hotel

Day 11:
Full day visiting all the remarkably excavated 11 rock hewn churches of Lalibela. Overnight hotel

Day 12:
Drive 300 kms to Dessie through the highland area of Dilb where you can see the endemic mammal of Gelada Baboon. En route, you will have visit the 13th century monastery of Haik Istifanos at Lake Haik. Overnight basic hotel

Day 13:

Drive 400 kms (asphalt road) to Addis Ababa through the Great Rift Valley. En route, if the day is Sunday visit the colorful market at Senbete where over four tribes meet and exchange their goods. Continue driving through Tarma Ber, viewpoint as well as the escarpment of the rift valley. Overnight 3*hotel

Day 14:
City tour of Addis Ababa; Addis Ababa is the capital city of Ethiopia. It is also recognized as the seat of the African Union since 1960s. Hence, we take you to the fascinating attractions of the city. The tour includes the National & ethnographic museums, the colorful market, the Trinity Cathedral, the panoramic view of Mount Entoto. Evening farewell dinner party then transfer to airport for returns flight. End of the tour!
