Rwanda Gorilla Safaris, Volcanoes and Beach Holiday Day 01: Arrive Kanombe airport and transfer to the Mille collines Hotelfor overnight based on bed and breakfast. Day 02: Morning travel to Akegera National Park for a gameviewing safari and birdwatching. Overnight at Akagera Lodge. Day 03: Another safari in the Akagera National Park in search of wildlife including; Zebra, eland and other wildlife. Meals and overnight at Akagera Lodge. Day 04: Breakfast at leisure, thentransfer on a lovely 4 hour drive through winding roads to the Mountain Gorillas Nest Lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 05: Early breakfast before an early start for your climb to the Mount Karisimbi.Mount Karisimbi is the highest of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains. It is a huge dome, now dormant, that dominates the range, more in girth than in height. Its name in Kinyarwanda means white shell, which refers to its often white-capped summit. Interestingly, this cap results not from snow but from hail and sleet which accumulate in the higher elevations from its frequent storms. You will camp up in the Mountain before returning to base the following day. Day 06: Climb up to the Peak of Karisimbi(4507m) and then descend and overnight at Mountain Gorilla's Nest Lodge in Kinigi. Day 07: Day of gorilla trekking safari in the Volcanoes gorilla park. Depending on the level of fitness, you may be allowed to choose the group of gorillas you wish to visit. The closest being about 2 hours or even a couple of minutes from the park boundary. Meals and overnight at the Mountain Gorillas’ Nest Lodge. Or Climb Mount Bisoke. On top the biggest crater lake of the Virunga chain can be seen unless there is too much fog... Botanically the track leads through bamboo forest, the habitat of mountain gorillas, giant lobelia or hagenia and alpine meadows. Day 08: Early morning hike to the Famous Dian Fossey Research centre and Grave Yard. Where Dr. Fossey spent close to two decades habituating, studying and conserving the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Return for overnight at the Mountain Gorillas Nest Lodge in Kinigi. Day 09: Morning breakfast then transfer to the Nyungwe Forest. This Forest contains a variety of habitats including montane forest, bamboo, grasslands, swamps and bogs, and is very mountainous too. It prvides some of the best Golden Monkey trekking experiences in East Africa. Meals and Overnight at Gisakura Guest House. Day 10: Breakfast early before starting the morning Chimpanzee trekking expedition in the forest in search of colonies of habituated Golden Monkeys. Other wildlife in the forest include: grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, Angolan colobus, L'hoest's monkeys and owl-faced monkeys. Meals and overnight at Gisakura Guest House. Day 11 and 12: Morning travel to the Lake Kivu for relaxing at the Beach. Overnight at the Kivu Sun. Day 13: Morning at leisure before heading to Visit of the Genocide Memorial where remains of thousands of Tutsis and moderate Hutus can be seen. Meals and overnight at the Hotel Des Millecollines. Day 14: Morning transfer to the airport for departure flight. Includes: airport transfers, park fees, Gameviewing in Akagera, accommodations, meals, Volcano climbs, Gorilla trekking permits, Nyungwe Chimp permits and private 4x4 custom built safari vehicle with English speaking driver guide.
