I T I N E R A R Y DAY 1 Depart Durban early morning with your qualified tour guide/driver (self drive option is also available) to Underberg at the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains. Transfer into 4x4 vehicles & travel up the precipitous Sani Pass to the Kingdom of Lesotho. Visit a remote Basutho village before enjoying lunch at the Sani Top Chalet. This is the highest pub in Africa at over 3000m & boasts spectacular views. Overnight at Moorcroft Manor, a luxury 4 star Lodge (or similar). Dinner for your own account. DAY 2 Breakfast. Travel through the Midlands to Cathedral Peak Hotel in the Northern Drakensberg. Arrive in time for lunch (own account). The afternoon is free for you to explore the area. Dinner included. DAY 3 Breakfast - the day is yours to explore the area, take a walk, go horse riding, take a helicopter flight, visit the San Art Centre or enjoy the hotel's many other facilities. Dinner included DAY 4 After breakfast, depart with your guide for the Battlefields. Stop at the Talana Museum outside Dundee for lunch (own account). Continue on to Fugitive's Drift Lodge (or similar). Check in and relax before dinner (included). DAY 5 An early breakfast and then off to the Isandlwana Battlefield. You will spend the morning here, reliving the day when Zulu warriorsdefeated British soldiers, on the 22 January 1879. Return to the Lodge for lunch. Relax before the presentation of the Battle or Rorke's Drift. 110 British soldiers fought off 4000 Zulu warriorsthrough the night of the 22 January 1879. 11 VC's were awarded after this hard-fought battle. Dinner included. DAY 6 Breakfast, then drive through historic Zululand to Phinda Private Game Reserve. Arrive in time for a late lunch and your first afternoon/evening game drive. This up-market, 5 star reserve is home to Africa's "Big 5", as well as a host of other animal, including 16 Black Rhino. Here you will enjoy opulent accommodation, fine cuisine, good wines and excellent game viewing. Dinner will be served after your game drive at the main Lodge. You have a choice of staying at Phinda Mountain Lodge or Phinda Forest Lodge. Dress code is casual and this in NOT A MALARIA AREA. DAY 7 Today you will enjoy an early morning game drive before returning to the Lodge for a very welcome breakfast and then you will be able to take a walk with your professional game ranger. After lunch and a short nap, tea will be served and then you will continue your hunt for those animals that have eluded you thus far. Dinner at the Lodge. DAY 8 After breakfast we depart for Lake St.Lucia which is situated in a World Heritage Site. Here you will enjoy a short boat cruise which will take you onto the St.Lucia Estuary. This experience will give you an opportunity to see hippos up-close, crocs and a variety of water birds and other animals. After the cruise we continue onto Durban.
