I T I N E R A R Y Day 1: Addis Ababa Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport where our hospitality begins. We provide you meet-and-greet service at the airport then transfer to 3* hotel for overnight accommodation. Day 2: Gondar After breakfast fly to Gondar, the 17th century capital of Ethiopia. King Fasiledous who still has a magnificent castle established in Gondar in 1636. Afternoon, visit the castle compound and the church of Debre Berhan Selassie for its awe-inspiring painting and, lastly, the Bath of king Fasiledous and the Felasha (Black Jewish) village. Overnight Goha hotel Day 3: Sankaber Morning drive from Gondar to Debark which is a small town situated at an altitude of 2700 meters close to the boundary of the Semien Mountains National Park. Continue driving to Sankaber where you camp for the night. En route, at the high point of the road, there are superb views across the weirdly eroded foothills of the range and you may also see the endemic Gelada baboons. Overnight camping at Sankaber Day 4: Geech Trekking begins today; you descend in to the Michwahtis Valley and begin the climb up the other side, making a short diversion to see one of the most impressive sights in the Semien Mountains, where the Jinbar River plummets into the Geech Abyss. After a couple of kilometers, you have to ford the chilly Jinbar River and then climb through fields of barley to reach Geech Village (3600m.). Overnight camping Day 5: Cheneck Trek along the edge of the escarpment, descending at one point into an open, grassy valley absolutely filled with 3 and 4-meter tall giant Lobelias. At all times, the cliff edge is close on your left-hand side and there are ever-changing views and glimpses of the valley below, often through narrow clefts between spurs. Overnight camping Day 6: Ambiquo Trek to Ambiquo which is situated at the foot of Ras Dejen. En route, you enjoy a pleasant valley with a clear stream and lots of Lobelias with great views. Overnight camping Day 7: Excursion trek to Ras Dejen Early morning, trek to the highest point in Ethiopia, the summit of Ras Dejen (4620m.). You climb slowly and steadily through giant Lobelia forests, passing the tiny, perched village of Mizma and gaining an area of open pasture where there are herds of cattle and goats with their attendant herdsmen. A 3-hour descent takes you back to the campsite. Day 8: Cheneck Trek down to Chenek along the spectacular scenery. Chenek is bounded by a semicircular ring of cliffs and the campsite offers superb views across to the opposite escarpment and the prominent peak of Imetgogo. Overnight Camping Day 9: Gondar After relaxing morning with the view of the low lands standing at the cliff side nearby the camping site, drive to Gondar for overnight at Goha hotel. Day 10: Addis Ababa/ Departure Morning enjoy the cool weather with superb views to wards the castle compound. Then transfer to airport to fly back to Addis Ababa. Evening transfer to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport for return home. End of the tour!
