Historic Cultural Route – 19 Nights/20 Days By Surface
Day 1: Addis Ababa
Arrive Addis Ababa at Bole International Airport and meet with us for transfer to 4* hotel
Day 2: Debre Markos
After breakfast drive to Debre Markos (260km asphalt and gravel road) visiting the 13th century monastery of Debre Libanos and the Blue Nile Gorge. Overnight local hotel with hot water and clean room, the restaurant also provide both national and European dishes (freshly cooked).
Day 3: Bahir Dar
Drive about 250 kms gravel road to Bahir Dar and sight seeing. Overnight Tana Hotel ( tourist standard), which is situated on side of Lake Tana. It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water.
Day 4: Bahir Dar
After an early breakfast drive to the spectacular water falls called Blue Nile Falls (35kms from Bahir Dar). Afternoon, boat trip Lake Tana for island monasteries.
Day 5: Gondar
After breakfast drive 180 kms to Gondar and sight seeing. Overnight Goha hotel. It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water
Day 6: Axum
On this day, you drive long (360kms) by enjoying very beautiful and spectacular landscape along the Semien Mountains and Tekeze Gorge. Overnight Yeha Hotel. It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water
Day 7: Axum
Full day city tour of Axum for its historical and spiritual attractions. Overnight the same hotel
Day 8: Mekele
Drive to Mekele (250 Km gravel and asphalt road) enroute visiting some churches of Tigray.Overnight Axum hotel
Day 9: Lalibela
On this day, you will have the longest driving day (460 kms gravel road. Overnight Roha hotel. It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water
Day 10: Lalibela
Visit the churches of Lalibela. Overnight Roha hotel
Day 11: Dessie
Drive 300 kms to Dessie. Overnight Lalibela hotel. It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water
Day 12: Addis Ababa
Drive 400 kms (asphalt road) to Addis Ababa through the Great Rift Valley. Overnight 4* hotel.
Day 13: Awassa
Drive 275 Km asphalt road to Awassa visiting the rift valley lakes. Overnight Wabishebele No.2 hotel (tourist standard), situated in the Lake side of Awassa. It is very interesting mainly for birding. It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water.
Day 14: Arbaminch
Drive 285 Km asphalt road to Arbaminch visiting the Oromo and Wolayta people. Overnight Bekele Mola hotel situated in the hilltop with a magnificent view of Lakes Chamo and Abaya. . It serves various courses of European and national dishes. The rooms are clean with hot and cold water. Here, as we start going down to the lower Omo Valley you need to have antimalaria tablet. Hereafter places are very remote, untouched but very beautiful to visit the tribes.
Day 15: Jinka
Drive 250 Km rough road, en route visit Konso, Tsemay & Benna people. Overnight Jinka Resort hotel. As we have a cook accompanying you for this route (including in all camping sites) you will have freshly cooked and canned foods. We hope you will enjoy it.
Day 16: Murulle
Drive 220 Km very rough road visiting Mago National Park and the Mursi people. Overnight Camping.
Day 17: Turmi
After visiting Karo people drive to Turmi (50 km very rough road) to visit the Hammer tribe. Overnight Camping.
Day 18: Arbaminch
Drive to Arbaminch on 336Km gravel road. Overnight Bekele Molla hotel.
Day 19: Addis Ababa
Drive 525 Km asphalt road to Addis Ababa. Overnight 4* hotel. This night our company will arrange for you a farewell dinner party in one of the traditional restaurants in Addis Ababa.
