I T I N E R A R Y Day 01: Nairobi/Masai Mara Pick from Nairobi Hotel. 9.30a.m. Depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve via the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley, lunch en-route. Arrive in time for an evening game drive in this pristine, unequalled 'big game country'. Return to the Mara campsite for dinner and overnight. Day 02: Masai Mara This will be a day of tracking game with your guide, after an early breakfast. The Mara's landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion, buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest, Grant’s gazelle and Thompson’s gazelle among others. We will cater for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. In the evening, return to the campsite for dinner overnight. Day 03: Masai Mara/Nakuru After breakfast, leave Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru. After breakfast a morning game drive will follow in Lake Nakuru National Park, the abode of various water birds that breed in the lake's salty water including flamingos, white pelicans and marabou stork; white rhino may be seen as well as the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, cape buffalo and other plains game in this park that is 188 square kilometres. Dinner and overnight at a local budget Hotel. Day 04: Nakuru/Mt. Kenya. After breakfast depart for Mt. Kenya via Thompson Falls, which are named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who, walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880’s. After lunch visit the Mau Mau (freedom fighters’) caves where our freedom fighters used to hide from the colonial forces during the struggle for independence. Overnight in a budget hotel at the base of Mt. Kenya. Day 05: Mt. Kenya /Nairobi/Arusha After breakfast drive to Nairobi via the central parts of the country arriving intime for lunch. After lunch you will connect 1400hrs shuttle bus driving via the Namanga border point for immigration formalities. Arrival Arusha at 1830hrs and you will met met by our Tanzania representative and checked in a budget hotel for overnight ton bed and breakfast basis. Day 06: Arusha/Lake Manyara. After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel then depart for Lake Manyara National Park. The park is renowned for it’s bird life, which includes flamingo and Egyptian geese as well as its tree-climbing lions. The park is small in size and the time you spend there will be sufficient to cover the park exhaustively. Dinner and overnight at campsite. Day 07: Lake Manyara - Serengeti After breakfast depart for the Serengeti crater lunch enroute to arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at the campsite/lodge Day 08: Serengeti Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge/camp in the mid-afternoon. The term “Serengeti” means “endless plains” in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah. The park is normally the scene off the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra, which occurs between the Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara. Eagles, flamingo, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, heron, kite, pelican, crane and guinea fowl are among the birds that can be seen in the park. Dinner at a lodge/camp. Day 09: Serengeti - Ngorongoro After breakfast, depart the Serengeti National part to Ngorongoro conservation area via the pre-historic site at Olduvai Gorge. The gorge museum has great wealth of the remains of various fauna and flora from the early man era. Continue to the Serengeti for an afternoon game drive, lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at lodge/campsite. Day 10: Ngorongoro After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro for a full day crater tour, taking picnic lunches with you. This visit will actually give you the highest chances of spotting the rare black rhino. The crater is 670 metres deep. The rest of the big five may be seen. Other species encountered include cheetah, grant’s and thompson’s gazelle, the common zebra, spotted hyena and wildebeest. Flamingos may also be seen on the crater lake. In between tracking game, you will have a break for lunch at the Ngoitoktok springs picnic site. In the evening ascend up and out of the crater to spend the night at the lodge or campsite. Day 11: Ngorongoro – Arusha- Nairobi After breakfast, depart to Arusha for lunch and catch an afternoon shuttle to Nairobi to arrive in the evening or arrive in Arusha in the evening.
