I T I N E R A R Y Day 1: - Late afternoon arrival in Cape Town – be met by your guide and get transferred to your accommodation. Depending on time of arrival additional activities such as a city orientation tour, visit to Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront or Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens can be organised. Overnight: Cape Town Day 2: Highlights: HORSE TRAIL, WINE TASTINGS & OLIVE TASTING - Early morning departure from Cape Town. - Horse trail combined with wine and olive tasting and riding through buchu (one of our medicinally used indigenous plants) plantations. - The guiding will be done by an experienced local guide. Duration of ride - approximately 2 hours. The horses are easy to handle and well trained. - Lunch (own account) on a beautiful Wine & Country Estate. - Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the gardens and swimming pool on the Estate. Dinner & Overnight (included) – Wellington area Day 3: Highlights: SCENIC BAINSKLOOF PASS, KAROO NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN, WINE ESTATES & HISTORICAL SITES – TULBAGH - Bainskloof Pass, built by legendary Pass builder Andrew Geddes Bain, is a rugged and dramatic scenic pass with views over the Wellington Region's winelands and towards the North, the vast open wheat fields of the Swartland Region, the "bread basket" of the Cape. - Visit the Karoo National Botanical Garden – Africa’s only true succulent garden. - We then enter the Breede River Valley, the Western Cape’s largest fruit and wine producing area. Here one can enjoy breathtaking mountain views, orchards, vineyards and indigenous flora. Tulbagh, set in tranquil rural surroundings, is a lovely historical town with the greatest concentration of national monuments in the country. Here will be some time to explore the magnificent historical houses and museums. We also visit one (or more depending on time constraint) of the well-known wine farms in the area. Dinner & Overnight (included): Tulbagh area Day 4: Highlights: EARLY MORNING HORSE RIDING IN THE VINEYARDS, MéTHODE CAP CLASSIQUE TOUR AND VISITING LOCAL ATTRACTIONS - After breakfast there will be an opportunity to go horse riding (approximately 2 hours) in this beautiful valley. Ride on the farm, learning more about agriculture in this area as well as the special indigenous vegetation found here. - Lunch enjoyed in the quaint town of Tulbagh (own account) - Afternoon Méthode Cap Classique cellar tour & tasting as well as a few other stops along the way at other wine farms and local attractions. Overnight: Cape Town Day 5: - Transfer to Cape Town International Airport for departure. Depending on time of departure additional activities can be organised.
