Botswana
With an area of 581,730 square kilometers, Botswana is virtually the same size as France, Kenya or Texas. Situated in the centre of Southern Africa, it is a landlocked country, with Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe as its immediate neighbours. Botswana lies an average of 950 meters above sea level and is more than 600 kilometers from the nearest coast. The Tropic of Capricorn bisects Botswana. The most striking features of the country are its flatness and aridity. With the exception of the eastern part of Botswana where the great majority of Botswana live and where the summer rainfall is slightly higher, three quarters of Botswana is technically a desert. This is what makes the Okavango Delta even more remarkable. It is a wonderful wetland within a desert, getting its waters from rain falling in central Africa, 1000 km away.
In Botswana you will experience the awe inspiring Okavango Delta and teaming plains of wildlife in the vast expanses of the flood plains and mekoro through the many water channels, you may even get the chance to see the elusive Sitatunga, an antelope indigenous to the region.

Day 1 Johannesburg - Maun
On arrival at Johannesburg International you will be met by our representative who will hand over all travel documentation for your safari. Check in for your flight to Botswana (international flight to Botswana return -not included in safari price)
On arrival in Maun, a representative will meet you and take you through for your charter flight to Baines Camp for two nights.
Day 1 - 3 Baines Camp
Set amongst the shady trees and water of the Okavango Delta, the small and intimate Baines Camp will feature four luxurious suites set on elevated platforms in the tree line. Wooden decks will offer expansive views over the permanent water of the Boro River and a lagoon teeming with life. The elevated suites will feature a spacious bedroom, with softly draped fabrics adding the romantic touch of a bygone era. The four-poster beds will be fully mobile, thus giving guests the choice of slumber under star laden skies. Avid astronomers will delight in stargazing from the privacy of their own deck. During the day, custom-made hammocks will lure relaxation in the sunshine.
The inspiration for Thomas Baines’s paintings is evident when looking at the waterscape that lies beyond the lodge. The main area will feature an oversize deck for outdoor dining and views over the permanent water of the lagoon. This area, situated on a private concession neighbouring the Moremi, is superb for viewing all animal and bird species. Guests will explore by land and water, often into the night to discover nocturnal species. The permanent water of the camp will reveal a world of floating safaris, atmospherically silent at the gentle pace of a poled mokoro, or faster in a comfortable shaded motorboat. A myriad of waterways, feathery beds of papyrus, and animal species large and small are waiting to be discovered. Sometimes there is no better way to tune into the bush than on foot, and walking safaris will be a specialty at Baines, with skilled, armed guides introducing the area’s natural wonders.
Day 3
After an early morning game drive and breakfast at Baines Camp, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight to Chiefs Camp for two nights.
Day 3 – 5 Chiefs – Chiefs Island, Okavango Delta
Chief's Camp is a luxury bush lodge situated on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. In this "predator capital of Africa", wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard abound, and guests enjoy exceptional opportunities to interact with this amazing environment. Recently, white rhino have been introduced to this concession, making it the only place in Botswana where these magnificent animals can be seen in their natural habitat.
Chief's Camp has been so skillfully integrated into the landscape that guests can often view game without even leaving camp. Shaded from the heat of the day by a beautiful grove of jackalberry trees, Chief's Camp is so remote you'll feel like the only humans for miles and miles.
Twelve secluded, permanent luxury bush pavilions are designed for ultimate privacy and comfort, and to offer you a front row seat for this rich and rewarding African adventure. Each features an en suite bathroom and private game viewing deck.
Game viewing opportunities include daily excursions in open four-wheel-drive vehicles and quiet mokoro trips along narrow Delta channels during the flood season. Expert guides are always on hand to offer a wealth of wildlife knowledge, to help you make the most of these rare and wonderful opportunities.
Day 5 Chiefs Camp - Maun
After an early morning game activity and breakfast at Chiefs Camp you will be transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight to Maun, where your safari ends.
