This 14 night all-lodge safari covers some of Zambia’s largest yet little known national park, Kafue National Park, together with Namibia’s world reknown Etosha Game Reserve. |
This safari includes stays at a number of private boutique style lodges with game drives, river cruises and bush walks included. The safari starts in Lusaka, Zambia and ends in Windhoek, Namibia. Busanga Plains are only open from July to November. At other times other lodges in the Park will be used. Lodges subject to availability Itinerary Day 1 arr Lusaka. Drive west to enter Kafue National Park to overnight at a riverside rustic lodge camp, run by reknown lion expert and celebrated author Chris McBride, whose game walks cannot be missed. Day 2 Take a banana boat down stream to a fly-lodge and overnight on an island in the river. Days 3+4+5 Again taking to the water, travel downstream and on via a scenic drive north through Kafu National Park to remote and beautiful Busanka Plains, stay at a lodge overlooking the plains for three nights. Game walks and night drives are included here. Day 6 Return south through the Park to a well known lodge on the banks of the Kafue River. Optional evening game drive into “wild” side of Kafue or evening sunset cruise are available. Day 7 Drive further south, through the GMA, past Itechi-Techi dam, the man made dam on the Kafue river, to enter Kafue National Park and on to Nanzhila Plains in the southern section of Kafue National Park. Stay for one night at a Lodge on the Plains. Day 8. Arrive Livingstone. Overnight at a riverside lodge in individual safari tents with e-suite facilities. Optional activities include visits to local markets as well Victoria Falls. Days 9+10 Leaving Zambia, cross the River to Namibia, where after a short drive though Caprivi you will spend two nights at a lodge. Activities include game walks and drives into near-by Mudumu and Mamilli National Parks. Or (Optionally continuing through Caprivi Strip, overnight at a lodge on the banks of the Kavango river, evening sunset river cruise included). Day 11 Driving across Namibia proper, overnight at a lodge adjacent to Etosha Game Reserve, night drive with local guides included. Days 12+13 Enter unique and world famous Etosha Game Reserve. Stay at two of the popular resorts in between watching game at the many waterholes. Day 14 Dept for Windhoek, over night at a popular in the Klein Windhoek district. Day 15 Safari ends after breakfast. Dept for Windhoek airport. You will be accompanied through out by an experienced driver/guide and transported in an air conditioned comfortable bush vehicle. Activities will be provided by staff from each lodge according to its location and speciality. Price The price of the above itinerary of 14 nights for 2009 is Euro 4,800 per person for a minimum of four people travelling together.
