Discounted Special Offer: Small groups 2010 starting on 24th April, 20th September and 25th October 2010 / 1700 Euro sharing This tour leads us to Andasibe to observe the biggest living lemur, the Indri as well as the smallest, the mousemaki. We will see more lemurs in Andranomena and the Isalo Park, which is also well known for an overwhelming landscape. We will have a slight River tour on the Mahajilo River and naturally we will not miss the famous Avenue of the Baobabs near Morondava. Another aspect of this tour is that in the last years a lot of good restaurants opened to complete existing restaurants. We will have great seafood on the coast, in the highlands we may taste excellent filet of zebu (Malagasy beef) in Antsirabe or Ambalavao. And of course the bright choice in Antananarivo. And last not least: Antseranantsoa is a common project of Malagasy association NY HARY Madagasikara and German NGO NY HARY Deutschland e.V. Its aim is to give access to education for children living in rural regions of the mid-west of Madagascar. The centre provides housing, proper drinking water, healthy nutrition, hygienic conditions and medical surveillance. By satisfying the basic needs of the children they are enabled to study up to 200km afar from their home villages where the schools attended do not exist. The project Antseranantsoa wants to improve the living-conditions of these children. And we want to give schoolkids the possibility to continue their education after primary school as an alternative to child labour. And the name Antseranantsoa is as well the aim: to provide a save harbour where the children can become fit for live. We donate 100 Euro per visitor coming with us to see their project. Day 1 Arrival at Ivato airport Antananarivo. After meet and greet we start our 140 km drive eastward through the highlands to Andasibe. On the way we will stop off at a Reptile Park. Here you can see some of the endemic chameleons, snakes, insects and reptiles of Madagascar. Andasibe, a former logging village, is the base for exploring the Andasibe-Mantadia NP, also known by its pre-colonial French name, Perinet Special Reserve. Tonight we take a night walk to look for night active lemurs and other night active animals. Two nights in Vakona Lodge. Included meals: dinner Day 2 The eastern rainforest Reserve of Andasibe-Mantadia is one of the last strongholds of the mythical Indri-Indri lemur, the largest of all lemurs. The animals and birds are most active in the early morning and there should be good opportunities to see and hear the lemurs. The black and white coated Indri-Indri is an extraordinary Lemur, known for its wailing call. Indri's are active on and off throughout the day but are best seen in the morning. Your afternoon and evening is then at leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Included meals: breakfast, dinner Day 3 Drive to the spa of Antsirabe. Antsirabe known as the city where we can find much minerals, across the highland landscape with its beautiful rice fields and its spectacular eroded hills called ‘lavaka’. The drive takes in lush green landscape where vegetables and fruits are farmed. En-route we stop in Ambatolampy for a short visit, a huge agricultural city and very well known as capital bay-foot production. Antsirabe, founded by Norwegian missionaries as a health retreat, is an industrial and agricultural centre. Also we find here the Star brewery, the only brewery in Madagascar. We stay for two nights at Admiral, out of the town, surrounded by an elegant garden where we enjoy sunset. Included meals: breakfast, dinner Day 4 Antsirabe, is a lovely town and a stroll around its streets will bring you in contact with some fantastic little shops selling Malagasy artefacts and handicrafts. It is a very peculiar town because of its charming characteristics. Antsirabe is also a centre precious and semi-precious stones and numerous street vendors and stalls offering souvenir stones. In some places you can watch them being cut and polished. The countryside around Antsirabe is worth exploring, especially the lakes to the west of the town like mystic Lac Tritriva.
