Itinerary

Kruger National Park and Timbavati Safari

Day 1 - Kruger National Park
We collect you from your hotel after breakfast and set off for the world-renowned Kruger National Park. This park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and the world and is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms. We take a leisurely game drive to our camp.

OVERNIGHT: Kruger NP
MEALS: Dinner: Kruger NP
INCLUDED: Kruger NP Daily conservation fee

Day 2 - Kruger National Park
Continue exploring the vastness and diversity of Kruger Park with a morning and afternoon game drive.

OVERNIGHT: Kruger NP
MEALS: Breakfast: Kruger NP
Dinner: Kruger NP
INCLUDED: Kruger NP Daily conservation fee

Day 3 - Timbavati
Enter the Timbavati. The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve comprises 53,392 hectares of private land adjoining the Kruger National Park. The beauty of the Timbavati is that it allows you to go off road to view game – ensuring the best possible opportunities for sightings of the Big 5. We arrive at our lodge in time for lunch and some time at leisure before joining the rangers on the evening game drive.

OVERNIGHT: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge
MEALS: Breakfast: Kruger NP
Lunch: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge
Dinner: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge
INCLUDED: Entry into the Timbavati Conservation area

Day 4 - Timbavati
Game viewing is done in open safari vehicles and the camp size is so small, it feels more like home than a rest camp. Nothing is fenced off so it is not uncommon to have Hyena coming into camp to try and wash the dishes after supper!

Sightings are close, as the 4x4 game viewers go off road to view animals like Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Cheetah and Wild Dog. You also have the option of joining your ranger on a bush walk, to get up close and personal with many aspects of the bush that often pass you by on a game viewing vehicle.

A highlight is the sunset drives, where we depart from camp at about 15h00 and stop for drinks and some snacks before sunset. The drive resumes as soon as the sun is down and you have the opportunity to seek out the nocturnal inhabitants of the bush.

OVERNIGHT: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge
MEALS: Breakfast: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge
Lunch: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge
Dinner: Gomo Gomo Game Lodge

DAY 5 - Johannesburg
After breakfast, bid the Timbavati and Kruger farewell and return to Johannesburg. We arrive in the late afternoon and drop you off at your guest house or the airport.
OVERNIGHT: Not included
MEALS: Breakfast: Simbavati Lodge

Comment: Our Safari is sadly finished.

Africa Guide put us in touch with several reputable firms and the operator I chose impressed me from first contact. You know you are going to get personal service when you get a phone call initiating your safari planning rather than just an email. I am a high maintenance travel planner with lots of questions and Pierre not only answered my questions, but encouraged me to keep asking. It was obvious that Pierre knew Africa!

Pierre's next great move was hooking us up with Tony. Tony, where do you begin.... Awesome! Not only was Tony incredibly knowledgeable, he was great fun to hang out with! Tony is very tuned into animal behaviour and found the Big Five for us in two days! He is also gauges an animal's disposition and can determine which animals we can have a closer look at and which need more space. Tony made sure we were safe and that's a big deal! After our incredible safari experience with Tony, I rented a car on my own. The reservation got messed up and Tony went above and beyond and help me straighten out the mess. "Above and beyond" pretty much sums up the experience.

These are my comments, but they feel very inadequate. I can't say it enough. We had a great trip because of Tony and Pierre.

Our group is extremely well travelled and all four of us, without hesitation, have said that our experience has made South Africa our best vacation ever!

We will definitely use this safari operator again and recommend them to our friends.

Thanks for hooking us up.

Comment: In July 2006 seven members of our family were escorted from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park by Pierre and Tony. We spent six days with this team using two VW vans to provide room to move around and to get good views of the wild life.

Both Pierre and Tony were excellent guides. They arranged for meals and lodging, spotted birds and wildlife long before we did, had some innovative meals that they cooked and were all round good company. For three days we used the VW vans for the game viewing and for two more days we were in Gomo Gomo where they provided Land Rovers just for our group.

Pierre and Tony went along on these trips as well and were helpful in spotting games and birds. We all agreed that they provided us with an interesting learning experience. We recommend them for any future visits.
