Day 1 Leaving Livingstone and the Victoria Falls area, we cross into Botswana to Kasane. The nearby Chobe National Park is particularly known for its elephant populations but also has good numbers of predators including lion and leopard, as well as hippo, crocodile and antelope. A popular option is to take a cruise on the Chobe River and watch wildlife come to drink at the end of the day – a relaxing and enjoyable experience!
Day 2 – 5 You have the option of taking an early morning 4x4 game drive in Chobe NP before we drive to Maun, the administrative centre for the vast Okavango Delta. Travelling into the Okavango Delta we use local guides (polers) and make our way in dug-out canoes (mokoro’s) through the maze of watery channels that make up the Delta. We ‘rough-camp’ on one of the islands and continue to explore the surroundings on foot with guided walks.
Day 6 – 7 Before leaving Maun there is the option of scenic flights over the Okavango Delta for another view of the Delta area. We then head south to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. We learn a little of its success in rhino conservation and take an evening game drive. Finally we cross into South Africa to the bright lights of Johannesburg where our tour ends.
