7 Day Kenya Safari : Catch the 'Big 5'

Special offer!!!
At the moment, we are offering a 10% discount on all bookings made.

7 days Catch the Big 5.

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu
We will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel at 0800hrs and thereafter depart for Samburu Game Reserve via Thompson Falls, which are named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880’s. Samburu Game Reserve lies in the Kenya’s semi-arid, rugged central region about 215 miles north of Nairobi. Arrive in time for lunch and thereafter proceed for an afternoon game drive in this pristine, unequalled ‘peculiar game country’. Dinner and overnight

Day 2: Samburu
Breakfast. Then morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu with a lunch and leisure break at the Campsite in mid afternoon. Samburu is north of the equator and contains rare, drought resistant animal species, which go for long periods of time without water. These include the reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, the blue-shanked Somali ostrich, the gerenuk (giraffe gazelle) and the beisa oryx. In the late afternoon (at an extra cost), go for optional activities like having a nature walk, visiting Samburu villages to see the nomadic lifestyle or swimming in the nearby lodges. Rest of meals and overnight.

Day 3: Samburu - Nakuru
After breakfast, depart Samburu for Lake Nakuru National Park. Have lunch enroute. You will enjoy the journey with scenic views of Mount Kenya’s peak if the weather permits. Very pleasant countryside with tea and coffee plantations will be by-passed enroute to Nakuru. Arrive for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and over night

Day 4: Nakuru
After breakfast a morning game drive will follow in Lake Nakuru National Park, the abode of various water birds that breed in the lake’s salty water including flamingos, white pelicans and marabou stork; white rhino may be seen as well as the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, cape buffalo and other plains game in this park that is 188 square kilometres. Lunch will be catered for. Rest of meals and overnight

Day 5: Nakuru – Mara
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve stopping at Narok town for lunch. Upon arrival at the Park, proceed for an afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara is famous for it’s wildlife concentration and abundance that is second to none in the region. Elephant, lion and buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Dinner and overnight

Day 6: Masai Mara
After breakfast, another morning of tracking game with your guide in this Reserve which forms the same eco-system with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and is the annual seasonal scene of the migration of close to 800,000 zebra and wildebeest that occurs between the two Parks. The Mara’s landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the Reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Beside The Big Five, plains game like wildebeest, zebra and maasai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest, Grant’s gazelle and Thompson’s gazelle among others. We will cater for a picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool.

In the afternoon there is a choice between a game drive and a nature walk escorted by our armed Maasai guides. At an extra cost, you may visit a local Maasai village to see their nomadic lifestyle; the Maasai are famous for their bravery, as they have co-existed with the animals over the years. In the evening, return to the camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, leave Masai Mara for Nairobi with lunch enroute, with scenic views of Mount Longonot which is in the Great Rift from afar on the main highway. You will have a stop over at the Rift Valley View Point and arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon/evening.

Comment: The operator appeared as an high level organization.

Our guide-driver was skillful and helpful, from we got information about kenyan people and wildlife. Also we visited a local Maasai Mara village to see their nomadic lifestyle.

We really enjoyed our safari through many National Parks of Kenya and we can say only very good words for the leader Rebecca and like you know - the face of a company comes from their leader - so all crew were excellent.

Each day were organised very good and professionaly from the first minute we contact with the company to the last second in Kenya.

Big, big thanks. We will definitely suggest the company to all our friends.
We are satisfied and grateful and we can never forget these wonderful experiences we got in Kenya.

Comment: They picked us up from the airport and arranged overnight accommodation for us in Nairobi. All in all they proved to be both competent and helpful.

The pick from the airport worked smoothly, a blessing after an all-night flight and we were delivered to a hotel in central Nairobi as agreed.

We were picked up in the morning for our camping safari, Catch the Big Five, to visit Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Samburu National parks, with camping accommodation (hotel at Nakuru).

Mid -October was a good time to visit, at the end of the migration in the Maasai Mara, with lots of zebra and wildebeest and hence lions and cheetahs. Lake Nakuru is very beautiful and would have repaid a longer visit, but even in a short time we saw the flamingos, rhinos and a leopard. The camp site at Samburu by the river and in the trees is particularly atmospheric, and we saw lots of elephants and giraffes.

The driver, Sammy was very good at finding animals and siting the vehicle for the best views, and our cook served up plentiful and appetising meals. Camping may not be to everybody's taste, but the sites were well situated and quite adequate. To us they provided a more authentic African experience than the alternative of staying in a lodge (and much cheaper!) and a chance to see some small wild life at close quarters.

With mosquito repellant I was not bitten at all, neither did either of us have any stomach trouble.

Comment: The safari exceeded expectations.

Rebecca was very helpful setting things up and our guides Ken and Sammy were very knowledgeable and found every animal species for our cameras. The lodges were lovely - each one a little different and quite luxurious for being in the Mara.

I traveled with my two grown children, on a private safari, and we shared the experience of a lifetime together.

I will recommend this operator to anyone who inquires.

Comment: They offered a good price for their 7 day safari. Even though there were only 2 of us in the 7-seater bus, we had our own driver and a cook.

Kenyan roads are an adventure unto themselves and is not for the faint-hearted. Our driver was knowledgeable and keen to please.

We visited Saburu, Nakuru, and Masai Mara. They were all worth seeing, although after 6 days in tents we felt we'd had enough. The cook surprised us with very tasty food.

I would definitely recommend this operator for their 7 day safari.

Comment: Jon and I had a very successful holiday put together for us. Everything ran very smoothly. Esther was wonderful, friendly, enthusiastic, cheerful and efficient. They arranged a holiday that gave us a taste of everything, from budget camping to lodges to the Ark. Our climb up Mt. kenya was for me the highlight as it was a long held ambition of ours.
