Itinerary

Accessible 8-day Kruger & Private reserve tour

We have tried to combine the spirit of adventure which the “overland” traveller enjoys that is to expect the unexpected but at the same time travelling in a highly planned and carefully structured way. This "enables" the “Disabled traveller" to enjoy an “expedition of a lifetime”

Everybody is welcome on our tours; individuals, friends, families, groups and clubs – disabled or not. All the accommodation used is wheelchair accessible.

Day 1
From Johannesburg, this day’s journey takes us east through the rolling hills of the Highveld, and we lunch en route to the Kruger National Park. Entering from the South, our 1st night’s stop is at Skukuza main camp. (L/D)

Days 2, 3 & 4
We spend the next 3 days in the Kruger National Park. This 2 million-hectare haven is home to the Big Five and many other species of animal, bird and plant. Kruger Park is a premier local and international Game Park, featuring, apart from its excellent camps, wonderful views and tranquil settings.

The Park features exiting drives through both dense bush and dry scrub. Whilst in the Park, most of the time will be filled with game viewing on early morning and evening drives, discovering the inner beauty of this memorable Park. This is where you can explore your photographic skills, or even just capture the sight of this incredible variety of wildlife as a memory back home. Our nights are spent at 2-3 different main and private camps throughout the Park. Optional cost night game drive available. (B/L/D)

Days 5, 6 & 7
After breakfast and a morning's game drive we depart the Kruger National park and head to a magnificent Private Game Reserve, world renowned for reintroducing animals to the wild and its Lion breeding project where we spend 3 nights. You can get to know and encounter up close Lions and maybe even touch a wild cheetahs at this stunning lodge. Dinner is served by us in a traditional "Boma" around a blazing fire.

Activities during these days include morning and afternoon game drives and walks, visit to Jessica the Hippo (if she is not out exploring the wild:), and a local Shangaan Village where we learn interesting history and taste traditional food. B/L/D)

Day 8
A day’s journey back to Johannesburg where you will be delivered to your hotel or the airport after enjoying your incredible safari! (B/L)

Please note that the above itinerary could be running in reverse or other changes may occur due to accommodation availability or other unforeseen circumstances.

Explanation of (B/L/D): B = Breakfast / L = Lunch / D = Dinner

Comment: To say that my African Trip was "life changing" would be less than accurate. This whole experience was Life Affirming.

To see the majesty of the Velt, the way the animals live and depend upon each other, to watch a bored lion go to sleep because humans are soooo dull provided an ego reality check that I shall treasure for the rest of my life.

Alfie, our safari guide and co-owner, was certainly knowledgeable. He also speaks "Baboon". When a baboon jumped into the bus, he spoke to it firmly and it obeyed! This is a remarkable feat for a mere man. He declined to give lessons, however.

The accommodations in and near the Kruger were great. The cottages were comfortable and clean, accessible and with thatched roofs. The meals that were prepared were fine and I do get to brag to my friends that 'wart hog tastes something like pork'. Finally, the fact that all the people put up with my West Texas drawl and my coffee addiction was quite nice.

Finally, Alfie did drive us through a Township in Capetown. I appreciate the opportunity to have seen this side of South Africa as well.

I appreciate the information that I found in the Africa Guide Website.
Thank you
