Day 1 We enter the Mpumalanga province and enjoy some breath taking scenery – Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels – before descending the escarpment and visiting an animal orphanage. We travel through a private game reserve to camp on the banks of the Olifants River, where we overnight.
Day 2 – 3 We rise to the sounds of the bush before taking a cruise on the Olifants River for a glimpse of hippo, elephant and crocodile. We travel into Kruger National Park in search of Africa’s ‘Big Five’ - elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo. The area contains a hugely diverse fauna – over 500 species of birds, 150 species of mammals and 100 species of reptile. We game drive in morning and afternoon exploring the less frequented northern parts of Kruger to escape the crowds. Whilst here, there is the option of taking a guided night drive.
Day 4 We leave Kruger with an early morning game drive, before heading north to the Polokwane Game Reserve where we have the opportunity of exploring the reserve on foot.
Day 5 – 7 Botswana is a vast country with large areas of wilderness and game reserves. We move quickly through the barren landscape, skirting the edges of the Makgadikgadi Pans to Kasane. We then cross into Zambia to our camp on the banks of the Zambezi River. A few miles downstream, Victoria Falls plunges into the Batoka Gorge - a highlight of any trip to Africa. We finsh with a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River and for a relaxing evening before your tour ends.
