Itinerary

Kruger 10-day adventure

MEET & GREET ON 12 SEPTEMBER 2013

You will be collected early via private road transfer from Johannesburg and transferred to Malelane Private Bushveld Camp where you will be welcomed us.

You will be settled into your accommodation, provided pre-game drive snacks, and then onto our open-sided safari game viewing vehicle for your first memorable game drive and introduction to the world-famous Kruger National Park.

Malelane Private Bushveld Camp - 12 to 13 September 2013(1 night)
You can enjoy the privacy and intimacy offered by this camp.Witness the spectacular beauty of the rising morning sun illuminating the sky during morning drives, and the seemingly sudden awakening of the bush with the shrill burst of bird song and the canter of animals to waterholes.

Accommodation is a private en-suite bungalow.

Satara (restcamp/central Kruger) / 13-15 September 2013 (2 nights)
After breakfast on the second day begins a fantastic privately guided game drive into the ecology and diversity of the southern landscapes of the Kruger, where you spend nights 2 and 3 in Satara. Situated in an excellent game viewing area, Satara has relatively open bushland and the game is plentiful and diverse. Satara camp itself has a rustic charm, with the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara camp is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. Owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roar of lion.

Accommodation consists of a serviced (fresh linen and towels) private en-suite unit.

Talamati Lodge (private bushveld lodge/centralKruger) / 15-17 September 2012 (2 nights)
This private bushveld lodge is ideally situated in the central Kruger NP. Our drives and activities include several dams, open savanna and thorn thickets with some amazing riverbeds and pools to explore. Elephants, lion and buffalo are prolific in this area as well as the endangered cheetah.
Night time at Talamati plays host to unbelievable African wildlife sounds, and you are sure to see many animals at the waterhole by simply sitting in the game viewing hide for an hour or two. Bird watching is also prolific. A resident troop of baboons is always seen foraging around the camp in the evenings.
Talamati is an ideal lodge to photograph the wildlife in open savanna, and often includes remarkable sights of hunting predators, large herds of buffalo and elephants aggregating around water holes.
Your accommodation at Talamati consists an en-suite unit (fresh linen and towels) that sleeps two people. They are fully serviced under beautiful thatched roofs and very comfortable.

A morning guided bushwalk will be conducted by Neil and another armed ranger on one of the mornings.

Skukuza (restcamp/central Kruger) / 17-19 September 2013 (2 nights)
Skukuza restcamp is named after the Tsonga name for James Stevenson-Hamilton, the first warden of the park. Literally translated it means 'he who sweeps clean', a reference to his removal of all the local people to make way for the establishment of the Park. The Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Museum houses many interesting artifacts – very well known is the knife ranger Harry Wolhuter used to single-handedly slay a Lion and save his own life. Skukuza is the Kruger National Park's largest rest camp and is situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River. Skukuza Restcamp is home to some interesting birds and amazing plant life.
Accommodation consists of a serviced (fresh linen and towels) private en-suite cottage.

Biyamiti Lodge (private bushveld lodge/south eastern Kruger) 19-21 September 2013 (2 nights)
Nestled on the banks of the Biyamiti river, this private bushveld lodge plays host to some of the biggest buffalo herds in the Kruger. Elephants, lion and leopard are frequent visitors to the water pools in front of the lodge, as well as rhino (both white and black rhino) and hyena. Our game drives meander in and out of the river system, up and down rolling hills, and through the mixed thornveld and riverine areas of the Crocodile River.

Accommodation at Biyamiti consists of an en-suite cottage that sleeps two people, which is fully serviced under beautiful thatched roofs and very comfortable. A morning guided bushwalk will be conducted by Neil and another armed ranger.

Neil and his chef take up residence in another unit in each location from where they will host your meals, fireside conversations and great hospitality.

Departure Dates - 21 September 2013

Comment: Our safari was the best experience ever. We saw every animal we could think of, the pride of lions was great. We loved to learn all about the different animals Behavior. Neil was very knowledgeable. If he didn’t know something we had inquired about he would find out and let us know.

Everything from the Impala to the elephants was a wonder. Right from our trip from the gate upon entering we started with the impala and even saw a lion on our first day. We learned what a maulk charge and a rhino charge was all about. We always felt Neil knew what he was doing and kept us safe. Both him and Gord have a unique sense of humor which we both enjoyed.

The weather was perfect as we came from 30 below to 30 above. We saw wild dogs, rhinos, hippos, hyenas, giraffes, kudos, buffalo, impala, lions, leopard, jackals, zebra, sable antelope, wart hog, elephant, so many birds I can’t mention. The bush was beautiful as well. Gord fed us like kings and queens.

The food was great, and was served wine at super. It was great coming back from a game drive or walk and have a nice cold beer. Gord always made sure we were taken care of. Hats off to you both. There was so many animals I am sure I didn’t list some but that didn’t make them any less important in our eyes. It’s a beautiful country and I would like to return some day. Our memory of Neil telling a joke and the hippo laughing was priceless. Our accommodations were very nice as I was expecting to ruff it.

Thanks again we will think of this trip often

Comment: Thank you for your initial information about this tour operator. As you are aware we have just come back from a 14 day safari in the kruger....in one word it was.....SPECTACULAR.

The Safari exceeded our expectaions by far. It was a once in a lifetime experience. My husband and I were overwhelmed at not only seeing the wildlife but understanding the animals. Neil our guide provided us with a proper interpretation of the wildlife, how the animals behave socially and how they live. We learnt how to track animal by using our sensnes.

The trip was very well organised from being picked up from J'burg airport to being dropped off before returning to UK. The standard of accommodation was great and varied from chalets to tents to guest houses. And the food Doug prepared was just mouth watering. All in all we could not expect much more.

Thanks to Neil and Doug for simply a great holiday
regards
Rakhee
