Booked via Email. Tom very efficient and helpful. Collected from Hotel and taken to airstrip (Ukunda near Diani Beach). All very efficient, friendly and helpful. 2h 15m flight to the Masai Mara. Small plane and quite bumpy on the way home so be warned if you dont like flying much. Dropped off 2 other parties at 2 separate camps before landing at Mara camp. Very nice welcome.
Tents wonderful, food great and our guide for the 3 days, James, was absolutely amazing. Johnson, a Masai tribesman in traditional costume, looked after our 9 year old for part of the afternoon between drives each day and was brilliant with the kids, making bows and arrows and teaching them about animal tracks etc. The kids loved him.
In our first afternoon drive after landing we saw Lions (actually, to our amazement there were 2 lions sat beside the runway when we landed and the pilot taxied especially so we could take a closer look), a cheetah with cubs and the most beautiful male leopard.
All in all an experience of a lifetime and I would recommend it to anyone even remotely contemplating this safari. Dont dally; just do it!

We had a wonderful trip to the Maasai Mara . All arrangements were made by email and communication was prompt and efficient. All arrangements went off without a hitch and we felt safe and secure at all times.
Our transfers to and from the airport (plus an extra transfer we organised) were all handled by the same driver which was a nice touch. This driver, Lazarus, was most helpful, even assisting us to stop at a pharmacy as one of us was unwell and in need of medication.
Mara Intrepids Camp was excellent, the accommodation was lovely and all staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Our driver/guide from Intrepids, Samson, was exceptional and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we got the most out of our game drives and saw all of our animals of interest. We highly recommend the tour operator and Mara camp.

We loved the Safari.
The Sekenia camp was beyond our expectations. We didn't want to leave. The service, food, accomodations and location were perfect.
It makes us want to return with some of our family and friends. The only negative was the flight arrangements. Everything worked out fine but we were a little confused with the arrangements at the Wilson airport. We did not receive any air tickets in the mail or E ticket confirmation. The only thing we knew was what time and terminal we were leaving from. After doing it once, I now know what to expect.
However, as I mentioned, it all worked out as we were told. I will use you again.

I was a little sceptical about booking on the net, but the comments from others persuaded me. I was totally impressed with the communication, particularly as we booked with only two days to go before we left England. E mails were answered swiftly in a friendly but efficient way.
The arrangements were perfect - everything was on time and it was a real thrill to be in the little plane over Killimanjaro. The lodge was worth every penny - it was luxurious and spectacular. Service was brilliant.
We really hit the jackpot with our Safari guide, Joseph ( although probably everyone says that) as he impressed us with his knowledge and accommodated my interest in birds as well as finding us spectacular views of animals too! He was an intelligent, personable man and we enjoyed his company. I shall send him a card with our thanks.
I would not hesitate to recommend the operator and would love to go again. I envy the pilot as he can choose which of the Mara camps to eat lunch in.

I cannot say how much our entire family enjoyed our trips out on the plains and savannahs
Our Safari was the experience of a lifetime. We seen nature in it’s most beautiful, raw and extreme states.
The accommodation at the Intrepids was beautifully presented and maintained We were made welcome from the day we arrived until the day we departed.
My only tip for anyone travelling would be to buy the best camera and largest memory stick / film that you can afford.. you will need it.

I am happy to provide some feedback for you;
the positives were the speed and ease of communication with The Africa Guide & the tour operator (Tom in particular), the fact that we were given web links to access and view the lodges, a high standard of accommodation with extremely friendly, helpful and courteous staff, good food and knowledgeable guides (Mara Intrepids).
There are a couple of negatives, they were:
i) Other travellers seemed to get considerably cheaper deals in resort with local agents, which we found strange as the operator still appeared to be the safari provider, one couple paid around £125/$250 per person less than Lara and I and were upgraded to stay at Mara Explorer, another couple again paid around £125/$250 per person less and had a balloon safari included.
ii) Lara found it quiet difficult to get information from the operator re support for local projects and in particular how they supported the voucher system for Masaai village visits.
In short, would I use the Africa Guide again – yes, would we visit Kenya again – yes, would we use the operator again – probably, but they would need to be much more competitive.
Tour Operators Reply:
Our air safari packages are ONLY sold either through The Africa Guide or our website and NO ONE can get cheaper rates !
In essence, the people who got it cheaper, more than likely purchased their safaris through the beach boys, who literally pick up business from tourists on the beach and are able to put a package together cheaper because they dont have offices, staff, overheads, insurances etc.
The beach boys pay us the full ticket price for the air transport, then they get the lodge reservation directly, they transfer the clients in some broken down taxi to the airport, so when you total up what it is costing - the beach boy simply adds 2 or 3 dollars as his profit !!
Our authorities have for years been trying to address this menace because it does expose our visitors to unscrupulous dealings and accidents have been known to happen where there is no insurance whatsoever and you can never find the beach boy again should you have any sort of claim

We are a family with two teenaged children, and we had booked 10 days at the Kenyan coast with a Nritish tour operator. However, the tour operator did not offer the particular safari trip we wanted, so we looked on line for a safari in the Masai Mara that flew from Mombasa. We finally chose this one as they had the best prices.
It was very simple and straightforward to book via email, and any questions we had were answered promptly. When the day of the safari arrived, we were picked up on time as arranged and taken to the Ukunda airstrip.
The flight was fantastic. We were flying low enough to see all the scenery below us and we had wonderful views of Kilimanjaro as we flew past. As we arrived at our destination, we could see the vast plains of the Masai Mara stretching out ahead of us. We stayed at the Mara Intrepids camp, which was every bit as good as described.
This was an exciting and memorable trip, and we would have no hesitation in recommending the operator to any of our friends.

Our 3 day/2 night safari staying at Mara Intrepids was the highlight of our Kenya trip.
I had been concerned booking the trip over the internet but Tom was very helpful and everything went fantastically smoothly - pick ups from the hotel, the flight into the Mara and our reception at the Game lodge. Our guide was Charlie at Mara Intrepids who seemed to be able to find Cheetahs everywhere we looked - as well as the other big cats.
It was a truly fantastic experience which I cannot recommend highly enough - we loved it and can't wait to go back.

I have to compliment yourselves & the operator on the quality of holiday delivered.
The convenience & ease with which this holiday was booked over the internet was tempered by a fear that perceived arrangements would not actually materialise. We complicated matters considerably by wishing to customise our package to include an extra night & a vehicle/guide for sole use of our party. We also requested adjacent tent accommodation in one of the most popular camps, at the most popular game park (Mara G. R) at it's most popular time of the year (august-during the Wildebeest migration). Despite the demanding nature of our booking all arrangements went exactly to plan.
Clearly a number of individuals require credit for the success of our safari holiday. First & foremost I would like to praise Tom of the Reservations dept who arranged everything exactly as we requested it - he performed minor miracles to arrange our accommodation/vehicle requests especially given that we were visiting the Mara at its busiest time.
I would also like to thank the drivers who transported us to & from Malindi airport & particularly the ground staff & air crew who made our journey to the Mara by air a pleasurable experience....if only all flying could be like this.
The staff at the camp were without exception most pleasant & welcoming. They offered an extremely high quality of care & service which was similarly reflected in the high standard of the accommodation & the quality and range of food on offer.
Finally I would like to make special mention of our game drive guide -Silas. He proved to be a truly excellent driver, a highly knowledgeable guide & excellent company. Through his skills we were able to negotiate some very awkward terrain despite heavy unseasonable rains. He consistently placed us near the action -often conjuring up something out of nothing so that we saw all that we could wish for and more. We were privileged to be able to observe a river crossing, a Lion hunt/kill & the amazing spectacle that is the Mara during the great migration. Though big game was clearly our target Silas was also able to point out various birds & smaller creatures whilst explaining their place in the Mara ecosystem; indeed it was this supporting cast which has left such a great impression upon us.
Though it has become a cliché the Masai Mara is undoubtedly one of the greatest spectacles to be experienced on this Earth - it is an assault on all of the senses and sitting quietly in the centre of a huge herd of thousands of bleating Wildebeest is a sound that will be with us forever.
Visit the Masai Mara, book your trip with this operator and stay at the Mara Intrepids camp ....you will not be disappointed
