Three day safari in the oldest game reserve in South Africa. Come visit Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve and let us show you a bit more than the Big 5, all done in true African Style and Hospitality.
Join us on a short safari through Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve was founded in 1895, making it the oldest game reserve in South Africa.
It was here that the world acclaimed Operation Rhino was introduced in the 1960's. This game park has managed to turn the tide on this animal and has grown the numbers of White Rhino from around 500 in the 1960's to its current carrying capacity of around 6000. At least a fifth of the world's Black and White Rhino populations are found in the 96000ha park.
The tour departs from Durban, where we will collect you from the airport or your hotel. We travel north through the heart of Zululand until we get to the old hunting grounds of the legendary King Shaka. These hunting grounds are today known as the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, where we will stay for the duration of your tour.
We will explore the wildlife of the park, which includes the BIG 5 as well as the lesser known Small 5.
You will be wined and dined in true African style.
The price will include all transport, meals, entrance fees, guides and accommodation during the safaris (outside of Durban). The safaris will be done in an air-conditioned vehicle to ensure your every comfort.
Birding can be incorporated into this tour. We have one of the countries best bird guides (one of six), available to do this tour for you should you be a keep birder. Please feel free to request a list of special birds we could find for you on this tour.
All the tours we offer are perfectly suited to be the ideal family holiday. As we do not mix groups together you don’t have to worry about loud or over active children getting in the way of anybody else. Our guides understand that tours with children need to be handled a little differently! On request we can even provide prams, car seats and booster seats for very young children.
Add a Day If two nights in the African bush is not long enough, why not add a day or two. For a small extra fee of US$210.00 per night you can add on as many extra nights you like.
Our unique relationship with our tour operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at The Africa Guide can leave a review.
The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.
Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.
Trips with no reviews are usually new to the The Africa Guide but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here. Most tour operators listing here will usually have gained reviews about other trips they have listed here.
Thanks for visiting, happy travels and don't forget to send us your reviews...
I can honestly say that our safari was the highlight of our trip to South Africa.
Pierre, our guide, tailored the trip to our needs, was knowledgeable, entertaining, and fed us extremely well too!
We had varying weather conditions throughout our tour, but these did not affect Pierre's ability to give us an excellent trip, nor hindered him spotting all of the wildlife - from far away buffalo, down to the tiniest dung beetle - things which our un-trained eyes would surely have missed!
The vehicle we travelled in was comfortable and spacious, and well stocked with food and drink.
