Day 1 A warm welcome awaits you at Durban International Airport where you will be met by your friendly hosts. You will be transferred in air-conditioned vehicles through Durban, Africa’s exciting seaside paradise to your accommodation at Durban beachfront. Here we give you chance to unwind after your flight and sip cocktails while overlooking views of Durban harbor and beaches.(B)
Day 2 Today holds much excitement; we explore The Golden Mile along the Durban Beachfront with its wonderful mix of cultures, nationalities, shops, stunning beaches, flea markets, restaurants and places of interest. We visit Ushaka Marine World Africa’s largest aquarium with its seal and dolphin stadium and aquariums where you can touch a starfish and feel the skin of a sea cucumber with the help of a trained guide. Be fascinated by sharks, sea snakes and stone fish! We explore the Village Walk with its numerous shops and curio stall and restaurants before heading back to your accommodation for much needed rest from the day’s excitement.You are welcome in the evening to dine out at one of the numerous restaurants close by.(B)
Day 3 After breakfast, we head for The Elephant Coast Zululand to the area of Umfolozi/ Hluhluwe Game Reserve based in the largest and most spectacular Ecotourism region in South Africa. Hluhluwe Game Reserve the second largest big 5 Game Reserve in South Africa. Your accommodation is close by and is your home away from home and your base from which to explore the wonders the Wetlands and the Elephant Coast has to offer.The afternoon holds much excitement with a visit to a local Traditional Zulu Cultural Village where you will learn about our Zulu Culture and watch the dynamic Zulu dancing which will hold you spell bound! Enjoy your evening meal of traditional South African barbecue under the African stars next to a bonfire.(B)(D)
Day 4 Today we introduce you to the magical experience of Zululand and your safari. Explore the magnificent 100000 hectares of Africa of Hluhluwe Game Reserve . Established in 1895 Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi is the home of The Big Five and Operation Rhino. It became world renowned for saving the white rhino from extinction.
You will be sure to spot elephant, buffalo, giraffe, warthog, zebra, impala and wildebeest and many other species. The park is also home animals such as Lion, Leopard and Wild Dog. Enjoy a peaceful and safe ambience with Africa and its wildlife in your luxurious, air-conditioned vehicle with your experienced Game Ranger and your host.(B)
Day 5 Today is the day where the spirit of Africa touches your soul. We embark on leisurely extended game drives to all areas of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. There is much to explore! Your experienced ranger will help you spot and identify many species of bird and animal life. (The Elephant Coast has more then 500 species of birdlife recorded).With a little assistance most people will be able to distinguish the more common families of birds in no time at all. Look out for the abundant animal life such as black rhino, nyala, kudu, hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, reedbuck, red duiker, baboons, monkeys and hyena. (B)
Day 6 Today will be a special excursion: You will visit numerous eco/cultural activities available in the area .Today you will meet and interact with two wild elephants that are brought in every morning by their guide at a Game Reserve. You will have chance to feed,touch and learn all about these amazing,powerful but gentle animals.An awesome experience never to be forgotten! Visit the ancient World Heritage Site at False Bay which is part of The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, the largest estuarine system formed in Africa formed 140 million years ago. Other attractions include Ihala Weavers with its restaurant, museum and curio shops featuring traditional Zulu basket weaving and beading, you may choose to have your lunch here. In the afternoon head for St Lucia with its numerous attractions ,such as boat cruises to spot hippos,shops,restaurants and whale watching.Your accommodation tonight is in St Lucia.(B)
Day 7 After waking up to the sound of Africa with birds and nature you are at leisure to explore this beautiful village or head out to the beach for a whale watching adventure. Let your spirits soar on this extraordinary educational adventure as you join a three hour whale watching and dolphin spotting trip while gliding through mesmerizing turquoise blue waters. Whales migrate northward from the Antarctic through South African waters,passing and dwelling in St Lucia,on their way to the warm tropical waters off Southern Madascar to mate and calf. Both mating and calving takes place in these warm tropical waters. Gestation is 11 to 12 months and lactation takes a further 11 to 12 months.
St Lucia is a picturesque village situated within a nature reserve and which is surrounded by 5 distinct ecosystems and ISimangaliso Wetland Park. St Lucia offers the day visitor an endless wealth of possibilities with its shops, curio and African-ware flea markets, pubs, restaurants, boat trips, and crocodile farms. You can also head out for a sightseeing boat ride (2hours) where you will be sure to spot the awesome birdlife and numerous hippos and crocodiles amongst the shoreline mangrove trees.(B)
Day 8 Return to Durban or Richards bay Airport in time for your air flight
