Regions

Makgadikgadi/ Nxai Pans
Tented Camp is located on the western boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The camp on the banks of the Boteti River (dry) is ideally situated for safaris into three protected wildlife areas of the Kalahari.

The area is home to southern Africa's largest wildebeest and zebra migration, meerkats, and all species of African predators including brown hyena and white rhino, perhaps the most diverse natural wildlife habitats in southern Africa,

Central Kalahari
Central Kalahari, a desert in name only, home to an abundance of wildlife and the San people who live there. In this region we have two lodges: .

No trip to the Kalahari could ever be complete if time was not invested in learning more about the San (Bushmen), who belong to the world’s oldest living culture, and the unique wildlife of the region. We operate all our activities with both a guide and bushman tracker. The bushman trackers are, arguably, the world’s best trackers.

During the summer months the Kalahari is transformed into a sea of green. Despite the grass being very tall making it rather difficult to view wildlife guests can still look forward to great predator sightings, thanks largely to the skills of our San trackers and our ability to operate off-road – a key to delivering a quality look at the predators that are widespread in our areas.

Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta with its crystal-clear channels, lagoons, sweeping floodplains and countless islands, is home to over 450 bird species, a spectacular array of plant species and the full spectrum of African game. The Okavango has earned its reputation as one of the world's premier wilderness areas.
We offer a full spectrum of camps and lodges within the Okavango Delta region; water camps, land camps and combination camps where you can experience both land and water activities.
On the dry land areas we operate on private concessions and our game experience is further enhanced by operating with guide and tracker – day drives and night drives.

At our water camps we proudly boast that we are home to the original and traditional Okavango experience.

Moremi Game Reserve – Khwai Region
The Moremi Game Reserve covers much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, and combines permanent water with drier areas – making for some startling, and unexpected contrasts.
Although just under 5 000 square kilometres in extent, it is a surprisingly diverse Reserve, combining mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons. Only about 30% of the Reserve is mainland, with the bulk being within the Okavango Delta itself.

The Khwai Area at the North Gate entrance to the Moremi Game Reserve on the banks of the Khwai River is one of the best safari destinations in Botswana, with vast open floodplains bordered by mopane forests. The Khwai River, the eastern-most branch of the Okavango, borders the Moremi Game Reserve and brings water to an otherwise arid area. This life-giving water attracts a spectacular array of animals - lion, leopard, African wild dog and cheetah are frequently encountered whilst elephant are common throughout the area.

Moremi Game Reserve - Xakanaxa Region
The Moremi Game Reserve covers much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, and combines permanent water with drier areas – making for some startling, and unexpected contrasts.
Although just under 5 000 square kilometres in extent, it is a surprisingly diverse Reserve, combining mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons. Only about 30% of the Reserve is mainland, with the bulk being within the Okavango Delta itself.

The Xakanaxa region of the Moremi Game Reserve consistently rewards visitors with fantastic wildlife sightings. Permanent water and varied vegetation zones combine to support the wide range of species that inhabit this area. Boating on the Xakanaxa lagoon and to the heronries of the Xobega and Gudikwa lagoons has become an iconic activity for visitors to this area.

Chobe National Park – Savuti Region
The Savuti has over the years developed a reputation as a prime place to view predators in Botswana, especially lion and spotted hyena.

The Savuti lies within the Chobe National Park and boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the African continent. The Savuti Channel itself was a river, but in 1982 it abruptly stopped flowing. The event was extensively covered by various wildlife documentaries.

After the first summer rains have fallen, tens of thousands of zebra migrate to this area to feast on the sweet marsh grasses.

Chobe National Park – Chobe Riverfront Region
The Chobe Riverfront is home to an amazing variety of wildlife. What is remarkable is the sheer number of animals that drink from the Chobe river during the dry months, creating the largest concentration of elephants and buffalo on the planet.

The other highlight is a boat cruise on the Chobe River and watching, from the comfort of the boat, a host of wildlife come down to drink a mere few metres away.

About Our Reviews

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.

Trips with no reviews are usually new to AfricaGuide.com but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here and has gained operator reviews for you to read.

Thanks for visiting, happy travels and don't forget to send us your reviews...

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
