Volunteer & Conservation Projects
Lake Malawi Hippo Expedition - Malawi
28 days: This project is a 4 week expedition by boat to monitor and take part in activities to prevent the extinction of the hippopotamus along the southern shores of Lake Malawi. It is a unique way to explore the "Warm Heart of Africa' from a perspective not available to many while contributing to the long term survival of hippo in the lake. You will also have the opportunity do some Scuba Diving or get PADI certified
 
Waterberg Biodiversity & Wildlife Project - South Africa
Get to meet black rhinos and white lions face to face! Learn about wildlife in the bush and make a contribution to conserve habitats and species. Be involved in biodiversity research and practical conservation. By taking part and contributing to this project, you, the volunteer, will take away with you amazing experiences and intimate knowledge of African ecology and its wildlife. Stay from 2 weeks to 3 months
 
San Rock Art Conservation Project - South Africa
28 Days: You will join our field archaeological team and assist them with the documentation of the existing rock art as well as explore for new, previously unrecorded, rock art and archaeological sites. Once you have gained an understanding and appreciation of the rock art you will conduct other valuable conservation work in the area
 
Rare and Endangered Plants Project - South Africa
28 Days: As a volunteer you will assist the Manukelana team in all aspects of this project from the: *collection and identification of seeds of key identified plant species in the surrounding area, *assisting with the specialised preparation of seeds for propagation, *propagation of seeds, *assisting with the marketing of the specialised plant palette, *general nursery work . You will also have the opportunity to experience the Zulu culture of the area under the expert guidance of the Manukelana team.
   
Teach and Travel in Southern Africa - South Africa/Mozambique
84 Days: This twelve week programme combines two popular community projects and two adventure trips. Volunteers will spend 6 weeks in South Africa, with 5 weeks of volunteer work and a further week on a guided safari in Kruger National Park.
   
Volunteering and Adventure Travel - Southern Africa
42 Days: This six week programme combines four weeks of volunteer work on our South African project with two weeks of adventure; an ideal way to start or end your travels. Volunteers will have the choice of teaching in local schools or working at child care centres in the Emjindini township of Barberton. These provide care and education for disadvantaged children many of whom have broken families as a result of the AIDS pandemic.

4 Day Ngala Private Reserve - Walking Safari - South Africa
4 days: Big 5 Walking Safari in the Greater Kruger National Park. Includes local flights, all meals, private guide and all game viewing activities.

Tanzania, Family Biking and Wildlife Adventure - Tanzania
Family biking and wildlife adventure through Tanzania with all that is special in our regular biking adventures but with reduced biking distances and extra family friendly activities added. Date: July 8th to July 20th 2008: Dar es Salaam to Arusha.
   
Tanzania - The Ultimate Biking Adventure - Tanzania
16 days: biking adventure travelling from Arusha, the safari capital of East Africa, to Dar es Salaam on the Indian Ocean coast; or the reverse journey. Biking far from busy roads and main tourist routes you will experience a different face of Africa - local villages and traditional tribesmen, breathtaking scenery and wildlife grazing on the plains. We travel through open savannah, desert, mountain rainforest and tropical coastline. We follow the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro with its snow-covered peaks and camp in the wilderness under a cloudless African sky. This trip runs July to October. Book early to avoid disapointment
 
Tanzania: Great Tour and Zanzibar Beach Holiday - Tanzania
19 days: View the Big Five on game drives in open-top safari vehicles in Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Mikumi National Park, Udzungwa National Park, Ruaha National Park and Selous game reserve – great for photography! Experience authentic African safari “sundowners” at exclusive Tanzanian game reserves. End of with 5 days in Zanzibar for leisure:
 
Lodge Safari to Mikumi National Park - Tanzania
4 days: Get to see the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centerpiece of Mikumi, which draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. It is perhaps the most reliable place in Tanzania for sightings of the powerful eland, the world’s largest antelope. The equally impressive greater kudu and sable antelope haunt the miombo-covered foothills of the mountains that rise from the park’s borders.
 
Selous Game Reserve : Boat Safari, Foot-Walking and Game Drives- Tanzania
4 days: The Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest protected wildlife reserve and covers more than 5% of Tanzania’s total area. Its rivers, hills, and plains are home to roaming elephant populations, the area’s famous wild dogs, and some of the last black rhino left in the region. The Rufiji River Delta is a striking feature of the game reserve - the boating safari offer visitors a chance to see the diverse life along the Rufiji River up close in all its splendour.
