Dogs in Moz - 17 years ago

You shouldn't have hassles taking your pets into Moz, but please be aware that dogs or usually not kept as pets in rural areas, but for security and hunting and have to fend for themselves. You could be attacked by the local mongrels trying to get at your dogs if you are not careful. Cycling in Moz is hard enough without the added concern of pets. Also to get your dogs back into SA you may hav...

Visas are issued on arrival. - 17 years ago

Visas have been issued on arrival at all International airports and almost all land borders (Namoto near Quionga not yet?). Costs US$25 and a formality but you may need to wait an hour or more during busy periods, especially at the Lebombo/Ressano Garcia land border from Dec 10 to 25 and over the Easter period. Mike ...

It's one thing to be interested in investing in Moz, but what type of investment? What sort of risk exposure can you afford. Moz is not for sprinters. Email me if you are after professional advice...

Must it be Xai-Xai? - 18 years ago

Is it essential that you stay right in Xai-Xai? Reason I ask is that I know Moz pretty well and Xai-Xai, while it has its moments, has never been a favourite. Why not try a little up the coast? 8-10 Jan should not be fully booked as it is out of the govt hols in SA. Send me an email Best wishes Mike www.@#$%&.com ...

Giriyondo border post. - 18 years ago

I was at Giriyondo (from the Moz side) on September 25 and the Mozambique side was not complete and it certainly was NOT open. If you try to approach from the Kruger side you will get to a no entry road before you get to the border. Unofficial word is that it will be officially opened by the end of October but don't bet on it. Watch www.@#$%&.com for further developments. Regards Mike Slater...

Sounds great but... - 18 years ago

the days of 'free-camping' in Moz are long over and if you do just pitch camp on a nice remote beach, you are likely to be greeted by someone asking you to pay a hefty fine. In the south you could consider the Maputo Elephant Reserve, or otherwise you will have to go way north of the Zambezi river. Look at a good website for most of the answers. Mike www.@#$%&.com ...
