Can we tour Botswana without guides or tour packages?

We would like to tour Botswana Kalahari and Okavango next year and prefer to do it ourselves. Is this possible or must we join a group or book a package tour.

Well, Bostswana is a beautiful place. Covering a full 84 percent of Botswana’s land area, the semi-arid Kgalagadi terrain dominates most of the country. Refuting the classical perception of desert as a barren, vegetation-less, useless land, the Kgalagadi (Kalahari) is rich in natural resources. You can visit whole place without the help of guide. But if you hire a guide he can help you to understand the place deeply.

For independent travellers touring the region Botswana offers an interesting contrast to the poverty of its northern neighbours, and is free from the apartheid hangover that still blights South Africa. Botswana has a long established tourism industry and levels of service are good, hassles are low and tourist numbers minimal away from the main parks, allowing for some magical 'off the beaten path' experiences.

For independent vacationers touring the location Botswana offers an fascinating distinction to the poverty of their north neighbors, and is free of the actual apartheid hangover that still blights South Africa. Botswana includes a long established tourism business as well as amounts of support are great, problems are low and visitor figures minimum away from the primary recreational areas, allowing for some magical 'off the actual outdone path' experiences.
