Hi friends. I have just returned from backpacking across India and now I really want to explore the continent of Africa. Growing up, my mom and sister and I were lucky enough to live among a Kenyan ex-pat community and this from childhood has given me a deep desire to see Africa for myself.
I am thinking of going next summer, but have no clue where or how. I have some Nigerian and Tanzanian friends, so I thought maybe it would be fun to go there.
In India there is a vast rail network which makes travel very easy across the country. Are there any countries in Africa that have a really good rail system which makes backpacking easy? Also, which places would be easier for someone who knows on English (and a little Hindi). Should I attempt to learn Swahili or any other language before travels to Africa? I am under the impression French is very spoken in Africa but I don't know French, but I imagine it would be much easier to learn, although I have heard from friends that Swahili is a simple language to learn.
Anyway, any suggestions would be great. thanks for the help!
