Lagos, Nigeria

Hi. I am planning a trip to Lagos, Nigeria in March. I read nothing but negative press about that city - can anyone offer any positive insight into a trip there?

Is it true that it does not matter if one stays in a hotel with air conditioning, as the electricity is sporatic at best? Also, what type of electricity converter do I need to use there?

Any help/advice would be most welcome.

It really depends on what you are going to Lagos to do. Will you be travelling alone or will you be with friends or family?This will help in giving you a more guided information on things to do in Lagos.
The good hotels have generators that provide an alternative source of power for periods of power outages.
Another thing, where will you travelling from? You have to ensure that you are protected against malaria by taking the appropriate medication.

hello shiela.. like u, i have only heard negative things about Lagos, nigeria, and that is were i am traveling to this spring. i have only heard good things from my boyfriend, who is nigerian..and i kind of wanted feed back from travelers who have had a good experience. i am going with my bf and his friends leaving from the u.s., and i want to know wat fun things there r to do there...is malaria extemely bad there? i have not gotten my shots! i need to asap.. any repsonse to this is welcomed

Dear sheila, though i am a nigerian, and Ilive there the stories i heard about Lagos was terrifying.But my first visit to lagos gave me the confidence of going to lagos any time.LAGOS IS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER COMMERTIAL CITIES.THERE ARE GOODS, BADS AND UGLIES.
