Camping Facilities at Ponto D'Ouro

Can anyone advise me whether there are camping facilities at Ponto D'Ouro. Also what condition the road is between Ponto D'Ouro and Maputo.

There are nice, basic camping facilities at Ponto D'Ouro beneath shade trees. There are also shower facilities. The road between Ponto D'Ouro and Maputo requires a four wheel drive vehicle.

If travelling from South Africa, do not travel there via Maputo. Rather, take the N2 to Kozi Bay, cross the border there. The roads on the South African side are much better to Kozi Bay. From the border, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is needed for the 10Km drive to Ponto. There are many people that you can fetch a lift with once the border crossing is complete.

Hi, did you manage to get info re the camping at Ponto D'Ouro

Just tagging onto the Kosi bay to Ponto thread. Am riding a 200cc scrambler up in a few weeks and just want to confirm that the road to Ponto (4x4only) is ok for bikes. Might soound like a strange question but sometimes real soft and deep sand is OK for the 4x4 okies but sad for the bikes. Ta.
