The Best Way to Travel to Morocco
February 02, 2006 07:57PM
My friends and I are desperate to travel to Morocco this April but we're also desperate to find the cheapest way to travel there.

We're thinking of taking a flight to Seville or Tangier but we have no idea how much the ferry will cost us. How much is the normal rate on April for ferry to Morocco one way and fare for return?

We want to go to Fez and Marrakech, but how much do you think the train will cost us and what are other alternative way to travel to those two places ?

I hope somebody can answer this question.

I just got back from Marrakesh. The Train from Tangier to Marrakesh 1 way 1st class will cost you around $30 you can take the last train out which leaves around 9:30 and arrives around 7 in the morning. The faster boat (NAUTAS) from Algeciras to Tangier is about 1 and 1/2hrs and cost around 60 euros round trip. When you arrive at Marrakesh stay at the Hotel Ali it's about $27.
I made a video while at Marrakesh if you want to see what it's like check it out.

Hope I've been able to help have a great time.

it all depends where you are travelling from..If its the uk a really good cheap ticket search engine is ebookers.com it always give you the cheapest alternative regardless of which air company they are ( non-bias )
i always book my tickets through them. Even if you are outside the uk you can book from london airports, if you change your pc language to english you can access the uk site ie.com If you book in advance you can get a flight from about 200 gbp, you can't get cheaper with a flight to spain and ferry or by land travel, for the hassle and time it will take. Once there you can simply take the local trains and buses, instead of the tourist buses etc.
I cannot emphasize enough how useful you will find the lonely planet morocco book! it is a cliche but it wil give you valuable insights into how much you should pay for things, timetables and maps..do not rely too religiously on it or you will follow the tourist trail but as for off-track, pre-booking, health & safety and general travel info, amoungst some very useful tips, you cannot find a better source of info..also get yourself a good map of morocco before you go too..the rest you must just experience as you go, it is all part of the adventure! bon voyage!

The flight i mentioned is direct to marrakesh, you maybe even get it cheaper to fez first, book asap for cheapest tickets, think about where you want to be, spain or morocco? just go direct unless you want to spend your whole time travelling to get there....remember to get your jabs 1 month before you go, i recommend stomach medicine, don't drink the water, give to beggars with grace, smile and have a great time!
