study in morocco

I will be traveling to Morocco on the 26th of January and studying in Rabat. I was wondering if any Morocco-experts could help me out with some questions regarding my stay there

1) how do cell phones work? My friend just returned from barcelona and is giving me his cell. could i potentially use a spanish cell phone and buy a moroccan SIM card for it?

2) what kind of INTL banks are there in Morocco? I need to open a new account that will allow me ATM access while i am there for 4 months. any suggestions?

u can use your spanish phone, if the cell is blocked then u will need to deblock it here in morocco. this will cost u something like 20 dirhams and then it will work with a moroccan sim

for the bank, u can open a " compte en dirhams convertibles" ; where u can put foreign currency and debit local dirham

what do you mean by ATM?

she means by atm automated teller machine

u r not in need to open new acount if u already got one in ur country simply u can use ur matard card its valid anwhere here in morocco

HI, this is Karim, Im from Orange county Ca, I am Moroccan American by naturalization, listen honey! if you are going to morocco, i suggest open a banj account with City bank , thy have one in rabat right cross form the Train station. next door to Royal Air Maroc "Moroccan Airline" with regard to your cell phone, make sure it's a GSM, that way you can receive calls for the US or what ever you from. if the cell phone in blocked, you can unblock it for about $2.50 wish comes to about 20 DHS, good luck. if you need friend over there you won't have problems finding them , Nice coffee shops all over rabat where people hung out, specially at night

well, i've dealt with many quetions like yours.
once you get here try to get a moroccan cellphone with ship,new ones with ships cost about 240 Dh.
concerning money in morocco, you can use your atm,because all the moroccan banks has the Atms, and also you can bring some travel checks are useful here i morocco.
