Buying a Riad

I am looking into buying a riad or dar in the next couple of months.

Does anyone know what the situation is if or when you want to sell. i have heard that it is not that easy to take the money out of Morocco. is this true?

What the agents do not tell you is that if you sell your property in the first five years the capitol gains tax is very high, thus wiping out any profit.

Yes & No...when you transfer money into a Moroccan bank account to pay for your house you should make sure that the bank manager knows that this is what the money is for & keep all paper statements. You should also ask if a certificate is needed from him to state that this money was brought into the country for that specific purpose. This way you have arecord of what the money was used for they wont take you for a drugs/arms runner!

Hi Mrs Price,
We have a house in Asilah about 30 Kilometres south of Tangier and another 2 in Azemmour (about an hours drive south of Casablanca. We live however in UK for most of the time. PLease send me an email and we can discuss potential "gotchas" in the purchasing process.
