Moving to Fez, Morocco--2008
June 15, 2007 04:28PM
Hi everyone! My name is Michelle & I have 2 young daughters. I'm from USA & have been engaged to my Moroccan man for well over 2 years now, and all in the mean time I have looked up all sorts of information about the country & culture. But what I lack of is the personal experience of what it is like inside of Morocco. Since I have never been there to experience it, I would like to ask of those who have to feel free and give me some good pointers and advise.

But please do keep in mind that I will be moving to Fez next year,(2008). So I'm going to need a W-I-D-E range of information. Even things like Marriage requirements & wedding arragements, buying land/property, residence visas & even american schools. I did find some information in the past about some of these things. But I just want to be sure if in case anything had changed over time.

Thank you so so much for those who may be replying to this message. It certainly will give me much knowledge of what's ahead of me.

For school u can visit this website.
www.americanschoolfes.org
It would be better to contact them early this year to book for ur kids..first come first served.
Conserning buying proprety, the best way is to go through your hasdband `s friends and familly.
Things go slowly sometimes in morroco, but at the end all the problems can be solved, just keep calm and patient.
to get married with a morrocan guy in morroc, u need to convert to islam first, then a long process of paper work follows.
I am a morrocan married with non morrocan lady, we have 1 kid.we `r planning to move to tangier or agadir late 2008...we will go through the same long process as you.But living there worths it

I wish you good luck

As a woman engaged to a Moroccan from Casablanca I must tell you my experience Moroccans are wonderful good hearted people, Morocco would be the land to be if I had my way but work and children keep me here...

About she having to convert to "Islam"sorry but that is not true I have alot of friends from Canada,German that are married to Moroccans and none of them have converted still christians it goes like this you respect my believes and I respect your's as long as there is honor and respect for one another you are not force to do anything you will convert of your free will "Islam"is a religion of peace..
Wishing you the best you will not regret living there..tell me what town will you be going to live.
