My client requires an Operations Manager for our Nairobi office to help run operations in East Africa. As such we will need to search out a candidate with the following qualities:
Freight forwarding background, particularly in Afghanistan/ Iraq and / or Africa.
American or British expat candidates only.
Young / aspirational candidates (looking for upward mobility)
Some team management background of local national staff
Good understanding of both cargo ground operations and rates/routings. HHG background a plus also.
Excellent English communication and business professionalism required.
Job would be based in Nairobi with frequent travel in Africa.
Somebody currently based in Nairobi or Juba would be good-- in fact somebody currently based in Juba would be preferable as we could use his expertise on Juba and then float him between the two duty stations as needed.
However, somebody currently based elsewhere but willing to relocate to Nairobi is OK too. The key thing is that the candidate have experience working somewhere similar to Africa in terms of the difficulty and chaos of the work; if not in Africa itself, ie. experience in Afghanistan, Haiti, or Iraq also OK.
Note: candidate will also be required to spend a good deal of time in Juba, South Sudan, perhaps as much as 50% travel to S. Sudan as required by workflow. Therefore a single candidate (non-family duty station posting) preferable since a lot of flexibility of schedule is required.
Starting salary 5000 USD per month with car and housing allowance, commensurate with experience.
This would start out as a mid-level management position.
