LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER

The successful applicant will take an active role in teaching students in the interdisciplinary Masters in Environment and Development programmes within the Centre for Environment, Agriculture and Development (CEAD). S/he will be expected to establish a research programme in the field of Environmental Management relevant to promoting African Scholarship, and will supervise postgraduate students at the Masters and PhD levels.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• A PhD degree in an appropriate field;
• Evidence of effectiveness as a teacher, and at least 2 years lecturing experience in Environmental Management is required for appointment at Senior Lecturer level;
• Evidence of current research activity in the broad field of Environmental Management. An established record of publications in peer reviewed journals is required for appointment at Senior Lecturer level;
• Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students is required for appointment at the Senior Lecturer level.
In addition, the following would be considered advantageous:
• Established linkages with local and international institutions;
• Evidence of obtaining external funding.
The remuneration offered will be determined according to the qualifications and/or experience of the successful applicant. The process of selection will commence on 10 October 2005 and will cease only after the vacancy has been filled.
