Opening an Optician Shop here is Mauritius is very risk taking as there are fierce competitors but if you;r products are cheap, fashionable and of good quality then i can assure you, that you'll have a good market here.

Hello Dr. Hussain,

Have you been able to get your work permit to work as an optometrist? I believe you would still have to apply to the medical council. Just like someone mentioned above, to open an optical store is risky since there's already a lot of competition. All the optical stores in Mauritius have their own optometrist, as for hospitals and clinics, they also got their share. Nonetheless, you would still need to apply to the medical council and they will decide. Best of luck!
