I need an opinion

Hi everyone,
I'm just lookin for an opinion about wether people feel that I stand much chance of suceeding with what i'm currently thinking! Quite honestly I fear its near-impossible, but its worth asking anyway
I would like to come to Mauritius for 8-9 months and work. I am a computer support technician with 5 years experience, I can't speak much French but am improving, I can drive and I have a reasonable financial standing. Other things in consideration:

- would I even find/get a job.. what is the IT/ICT support business like there?
- should I rent/buy a car for the duration?
- what sort of costs would it be to rent a small apartment for this time?

I'm not talking long-term. Which would make it even harder to find a job. But what about in the tourism sector.. don't they need english speaking computer guys (lol!! as if). Either way, I would consider other areas of work but I think a lack of french would be an insurmountable stumbling block.. right?

As you can tell, i'm not optimistic. But anything you can tell me is really appreciated. I came to MRU in Nov-Dec and it seems a wonderful place but the reason for my thoughts is purely a matter of the heart *winks*.
