I am told as a decendant of slaves in USA that my origin is possibly in West Africa, of the Hausa or Fulani tribes. Can anyone give me any information on traditional music of these tribes and what country these tribes are from?

Melvia If you really want information REMEMBER the Hausa and Fulani over time became basically a collection of enslaved and Arabized Africans though probaly not to the pathetic lows of Sudanese Arab-wanabe-ism.
So I sugest you do a google search with the terms "pre- islamic" + Hausa
For true Hausa tradition you MUST research the pre- islamic BORI "CULT" still alive and well and for the above reasons containing the most valuable and truthful information on Hausa music and traditions.
Good luck and all the best.

I am sorry to tell you that you are not of the hausa fulani group, firstly there is no group like the hausa fulani.. but fulani group or you are hausa group... So be honest with you, slave trade did not take place among the hausa group.. while the fulani group was form after slave trade, they are mix blood between the arab and africa. So I wonder who told you that.. I may be able to help you.. if you send me a picture at lamusman@hotmail.com... from your feature I would be able to help..
