Description
The Mushroom Farm is situated on top of the Livingstone Escarpment. It is a heavily forested place with incredible panoramic views back across beautiful Lake Malawi . The rooms are uniquely designed to make the most of these views and the beautiful bush surrounds. It has been designed to blend into the environment using permaculture principles; rooms are made from cob and thatch, composting toilets are used and it is fully solar powered. Veggies and animals are grown at the farm for the restaurant kitchen. We will soon be using wind energy too. The farm is located an easy walk away from the spectacular 125m. high Manchewe Falls, the historic Livingstonia Mission and museum and Chombe Plateau. Many beautiful walks are in the area.
How To Find Us
We are half way between the Tanzanian border (two hours away)and Mzuzu (Malawi's northern city). Follow a well sign posted turn off to Livingstonia at Chitimba village. We are ten kilometres up this spectacular road known locally as the "Gorode".
Alternatively, follow the beautiful dirt road from Rumphy through the Henga valley heading to Livingstonia. Instead of turning right to Livingstonia continue on for a futher 5 kilometres to our camp.
