Description
King and Country Guest House is located in the heart of the battlefields, this guest house is ideal to use as a base to explore the 64 different historical sites. All the rooms are en-suite and have SAT-TV, plus all the other common facilities like tea and coffee stations and hair dryers. The rooms are named after the various Royal members that played a role in our area, mostly Zulu Kings like King Shaka who really created the Zulu empire, and Dingaan who led his army in battle against the invading “white man”. We also have Victoria room after Queen Victoria who was the head of the British forces, and we should not forget Louis Napoleon the Prince Imperial who died on the battlefield while out on a scouting mission with British troops, and in so doing ended his family line. The house itself is over 100 years old and was build by the British during the occupation. Due to a fire in the records office back in 1926 we cannot tell exactly how old the house is but historians agree that the house must have been built between 1896 and 1906. All the floors and doors have been restored and give the house a grand old feel. We have battlefield specialist tour guides that are waiting to show you the battlefields and what better after a long day on the battlefields but to return to a refreshing pool in the garden and a drink from the honesty bar.The house has been graded by the South African Tourism grading counsel who has awarded it with three stars.
