Description
Cowrie Lodge is situated in Praia da Barra on a tall dune offering the most spectacular view over the pristine Barra beaches, and beyond to the coastline of Morumbene. From their decks, guests may spot whale sharks, dolphins, humpback whales (from July to October), beach activities and the local fishermen returning to shore - the best way to bag the freshest catch of the day! The lodge has a sandy walkway to the beach and is very private. Being situated in the popular Barra area of Inhambane, the lodge is within close proximity to numerous restaurants, bars, scuba diving facilities, fishing charter operators, quad bike hire agents, horse-riding activities, etc. The accommodation comprises quaint reed and grass self-catering chalets sleeping 5 guests in the main house, 4 guests in the casita adjoining the main house (shared kitchen) and 5 guests in the chalet (one bedroom en-suite with open plan kitchen/lounge area which has 3 single beds. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Guests are required to bring own bath and beach towels as well as garbage bags, toilet paper and cleaning equipment and materials. No candles, mosquito coils, fireworks, or wood fires allowed. 4x4 or 2x4 vehicle with diff lock and sufficient ground clearance required.
How To Find Us
From Maputo, continue on the EN1 North towards Xai-Xai and Inhambane (approximately 480km - 6 hours drive from Maputo). At the Barra/Tofo crossroads, continue straight towards Barra for approximately 7kms. After 7kms, turn right (large tree or right-hand side with numerous lodge signboards). Deflate your tyres to 1 bar at this point and continue with sandy road for approx 2kms. At the Mantas Da Barra signboard on the left, turn into Mantas Da Barra, drive straight through lodge until you reach Cowrie Lodge.
