Description

Located on the shores of Cape Maclear, Gecko Lounge has a Bar & Restaurant with a growing reputaions for the biggest parties and the best food on the lakeshore - we also have 2 x lake view private chalets that are en-suite with kitchen facilities & have private verandas, hammock & braii areas - they come with a double bed and bunk bed so can sleep 4 people for a total of $90 ($50 for single, $70 for a double and the a further $10 per head for 3rd and 4th person).

We also have a $10 a bed Shared accommodation room which has 5 x bunk beds, 1 x single and a shower and toilet - again with veranda and lake view. This can be booked for private hire should people wish to as long as a minimum of $40 is paid for the room.

We have a variety of activities and services for guests such as water sports like wake-boarding & skiing, hiking and treks in the hills, Wi-fi internet, laptop hire & skyband access cards,  DVD player and film hire, assistance and advice on boat trips, diving, kayaks, mountain bikes, transport to and from the cape & we have DSTV & Big screen TV for movie nights and sporting events.

Of course this is also complemented by our fantastic veranda viewing deck to watch the cape sunsets with Malawi G&T in hand as chilled tunes fill the airwaves and all you can feel is that everything is right in the world.

Pricing Details

Rooms:

2 x Chalets: Lakeside ensuite Chalets - Chalets are ensuite with shower & toilet as well as having a fully equipped small kitchenette that includes mini fridge & freezer. There is a double bed & bunk bed in the room as well as weighted high quality mosquito nets, fans, safe & large veranda seating area overlooking the lake that also has a braii / Barbecue facilities. Chalets are $80 per night based on two people sharing & then a further $10 a head for a 3rd or 4th person.

Baobab room - ensuite a king-size double, bunk-bed, weighted nets, fans, lock boxes, decorated with African Art & has a veranda seating area with lake-view, room sleeps 4. Cost of $60 per night for 1 or 2 sharing & then $10 extra for 3rd or 4th person.

Acacia room - ensuite with double bed & bunk bed - room has weighted nets, fan, lock boxes & decorated with African Art - Cost of $60 per night for 1 or 2 sharing & then $10 extra for 3rd or 4th person.

Reed room - This Room is often used for families & group bookings that are looking for more cost effective alternatives to our other accommodation - the room is split into 3 sections via Bamboo & Reed walls set on wooden frames with Chitengi Material doorways - Kampango Korner is a private area that has 2 x twin singles that fit together as a king size double - this can be booked privately at $20 per night but with others sharing the Reed Room itself. Chambo Cove is another section that has twin singles/king size double & a bunk bed - this also can be booked on a private basis at $30 per night - then between the two sections there is another bunk bed that can be booked at $10 per bed per night as well. Room has a shower & toilet as well as nets on all beds, fans & a lock box set up for storage. The whole room can be booked at $60 per night on a private basis regardless of how many people you are bringing (up to 8).
