Description
Butterfly space is a backpackers lodge with a difference. Its focus is the local community so anyone staying here will gain a great insight into Malawian culture. We are involved in numerous community projects ourselves, some in the local village, Chikale, and some that are based on-site at Butterfly. We have built a nursery school in the local village, and on-site there is a youth club room and an internet centre meaning that Malawians are an ever present at our lodge. People who stay are welcome to get involved if they wish, even for the shortest period, and we encourage this by offering such volunteers half price accommodation and the wisdom of our local contacts. No fee is ever expected or desired for this service as we believe the passion to get involved in the community should not become a business opportunity. As well as this we are located in a stunning location, on the shores of lake malawi, in stunning secluded gardens, so that if people just want to come and relax then there are many hide outs and tranquil places to rest yourself. There is amazing snorkelling and the possibility to test your balance on local dugout canoes. An amazing lake-side bar and restaurant and great hospitality means that butterfly really can be your home away from home.
